JAMMU, May 28: All J&K PoJK 1947 Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum called an emergency meeting through video conferencing under the chairmanship of Adv Amrik Singh which was joined by Surjit Singh general secretary of Forum also.
It deliberated over the newly constituted Delimitation Commission for the J&K UT for carving out new Assembly constituencies and rotation of reserved seats.
While complimenting the Union Government for the decision the members said for the last 15 years due to self motives of erstwhile National Conference Government the delimitation of the seats was kept in abeyance with the result most of the constituencies’ voters have crossed more than three lacs like Gandhi Nagar and Jammu West etc in Jammu region whereas in Kashmir province most of the constituencies are less than 50 and 60 thousand votes which is an injustice with people of Jammu.
The Sharnarthis demanded their proper shares in political reservation out of 24 seats reserved for PoJK people. Since first Constituent Assembly has passed the bill of 111 Assembly seats allotted for J&K Assembly. The Forum said that since 1951 the PoJK Sharnarthis are deprived of their political rights and at present out of 37 Assembly seats in Jammu province there are 17 seats where POJK Sharnarthi votes are a deciding factor. Forum stressed upon the Chairmanship of the Delimitation Commission to reserve at least eight Assembly seats for DPs of 1947 on pattern of SCs and STs because they are domicile of PoJK and more than 10 thousands people of PoJK have laid down their lives during Pak aggression. Forum further expressed that since 1947 the dispute between India and Pakistan has not been resolved and in the year 2019 Indian Parliament Home Minister had announced while abrogation of Art.370 and 35A that POJK is a Part of India and no body on earth can separate it from us. If this is the final decision of India then we could not understand why PoJK Sharnarthis are deprived of their political rights, the meeting added.
The meeting was attended by Inder Singh corporator, Paramjit Singh vice president and ex corporator, H.S Sudan Group Capt. (retd) K.D Singh, Nasib Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Gursimran Singh, Jagjit Singh Publicity, secretary, Khazan Singh, Pritam Singh Master, Harbhajan Singh, Bhupinder, Kuldeep Singh Kuku and others.
