JAMMU, May 27: After the tragedy involving collapse of a culvert in Doda district yesterday in which a labourer woman was killed and 12 others were injured, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the suspension of an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) and a Junior Engineer (JE).

In a Government order in this regard, Financial Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretary, Anil Kumar Singh has appointed Purshotam Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief (Secretary Technical), Public Works (R&B) Department as the Inquiry Officer to probe the tragic incident reported during the execution of work (600 meter span culvert) on road from Bhargi to Kunan in Block Gandoh of Doda district.
The order also stated that the Inquiry Officer shall submit his report within 15 days from the date of issuance of the order.
Quoting rules, the order stated that pending enquiry into their conduct, Naveen Kumar, In-charge AEE and Imtiaz Ahmed Shah, JE, PMGSY Division Thathri Sub Division Gandoh are placed under suspension with immediate effect.
The order further mentioned that during the period of suspension, the suspended officers shall remain attached in the office of the Chief Engineer, PMGSY Jammu and shall be entitled to suspension allowance as admissible under rules.
