JAMMU, Dec 5: Non Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum held a protest demonstration at Press Club here, today in support of their long pending demands. The protest was led by the chairman of the Forum Ajit Singh.
The protestors with banner in their hands raised slogans for settlement of their demands and urged the Government to provide justice to them.
They demanded that effect to Government Order No 229 -F of 2014 dated 17-10-2014 regarding pay anomalies should be given retrospectively from the year 1996 when 5th Pay Commission was implemented throughout the State. While the order was implemented in all the Departments only Police Department was left out. The Forum said that some of the retired policemen have expired and those surviving are struggling since then for redressal of the demand.
It said that various Pay Anomaly Committees were framed and they have given their opinions and approvals from time to time. While the first Pay Anomaly Committee in the year 2009 gave its recommendations that the pay anomaly should be removed the file of second Pay Anomaly Committee framed in 2012 is missing in Civil Secretariat, it added.
It said the Third Pay Anomaly Committee was constituted in April 2016 and till date it’s recommendations are awaited. The Forum said that Government is making the submission of report time consuming to avert the demand despite the fact that the police personnel are struggling for justice for last 20 years.
It said the Finance Department sought clarification from the Director General of Police regarding the pay anomalies to retiree ASIs and HCs and the DGP informed that an amount of Rs 5.93 crore are needed and the same be released to settle the issue.
The Forum also demanded that the children of the police personnel who have died in harness be absorbed in Police Department. Moreover posting of Orthopedition and ENT specialist be made at Police Hospital with availability of medicines. Besides, about 500 posts of SIs lying vacant in Police Department be filled up immediately, it added.
