Dogri Sanstha releases 5 books of Nirmal Vinod

JAMMU, Dec 5: Five books of veteran writer Dr Nirmal Vinod were released, here today during a function organized by Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
The books released, include; `Nirmal Hazara’, `As Te Aan Aam Lok’; both original poetry works and `Dehra Ch Ajj Bi Ugde N Sarhe Buhte’, `Vitasta Da Triya Kanda’ and `Vah Bhi Din The’; All three works of translation.
Padma Sri Prof Ved Kumari Ghai, the eminent scholar of Dogri and Sanskrit was the chief guest in this function which was presided over by Prof Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha. Senior and well-known literary stalwarts who were special guests on this occasion, included Dr Ramesh Mehta, Darshan Darshi, Dr Jitendra Udhampuri and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, besides a galaxy of writers and intellectuals who attended the function.
Prof Shashi Pathania, former head of Dogri Deptt, University of Jammu and renowned Dogri writer and critic Prakash Premi presented papers on the works of Dr Nirmal Vinod. Both the papers were based on an in-depth study of the books by the learned paper readers, in which various outstanding features of the released books were highlighted and critically evaluated. Dr Nirmal Vinod read out some of his poems, which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Prof Ghai appreciated the versatility and creative urge of Dr Vinod who has produced many books, not only in Dogri but in Hindi and Punjabi also. She said that Dr Vinod possesses equal command over all these languages, which combined with his creative genius had resulted into a plethora of books covering various genres of all these languages.
Prof Lalit Magotra, in his presidential address, said that Dr Vinod is one of those rare creative persons, about whom it is very difficult to say as to which language they belong to. He said that the five books released today, four of which are in Dogri and one is Hindi translation of Dogri works, bear a testimony of the hard work that Dr Vinod has put in and also his dedication and commitment to this language. He said the quality of Dr Vinod’s works have enriched the Dogri literature and enhanced its stature.
The programme was conducted and anchored by Prof Veena Gupta, former Dean of Arts faculty, Jammu University and the Vice-President of Dogri Sanstha.
