Weather improves, warning on

SRINAGAR, Mar 15: The weather today improved in Kashmir valley with Sun coming out this afternoon but the authorities here issued fresh avalanche warning for the hills of Kashmir as there has been heavy snowfall for last 5 days.
The Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) issued avalanche warning today for the higher reaches of Kashmir and during the next 24 hours, advising people not to venture out in vulnerable areas.
“A medium danger avalanche warning exists for avalanche-prone areas above 3,000 metres in Kupwara district of J&K. People are advised not to venture in avalanche prone areas during next 24 hours,” it said.
SASE noted that during the last 24 hours, Banihal, Gulmarg, Haddan Taj and Neelam areas of Kashmir witnessed fresh snowfall of 16 cm, 25 cm, 5 cm and 27 cm respectively.
Besides, Furkian, Z Gali and Kazalwan areas of North Kashmir had fresh snowfall of 41 cm, 30 cm and 17 cm respectively.
The temperatures also improved today both in Srinagar and Jammu. Srinagar recorded maximum of 13.9 Degree Celsius, one degree below normal and Jammu recorded maximum of 25.2 Degree Celsius, one degree below normal.
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, where the landslides caused disruption in the movement of traffic for last few days, had almost smooth traffic today as there were no rains along it.
