JAMMU Mar 15: Former Minister and Chairman SC/OBC Cell of National Conference Ram Pal today said that the party is gearing up in a big way at the grass root level for the proposed elections to Jammu Municipal Corporation and other Urban Local Bodies institutions.
Addressing first meeting of the panel set up to identify candidates for election in various wards of Jammu city here today, Pal said that the cadre, especially the youth, is keenly waiting for the big democratic exercise and every effort would be made to field public spirited and dedicated candidates, who can meet the urges and aspirations of the people with courage and fortitude.
Ram Pal, who is heading the seven member panel, lauded the enthusiasm among youth and women, saying this rekindles hope of having a dedicated team of Corporators in the JMC. He hoped massive participation of people and their unflinching support to National Conference that has a track record of public service.
The other members who participated in the meeting included State vice president Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial vice president Jugal Mahajan, Provincial secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and Dharamveer Singh Jamwal District president Jammu Urban.
The members of the panel highlighted the crucial significance of Urban Local Bodies elections and gave suggestions to ward level panels in place to identify dedicated candidates. They exuded confidence about massive win for National Conference in these elections.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Kashmira Singh, Bimla Luthra Ex- MLA, Deepender Kour Ex- MLC, Gurdeep Singh Sasan, Vijay Kumar Lochan, Ch Haroon, Sanjay Gupta, Mohd Ayub Malik, Abdul Gani Teli, Anil Dhar, Veena Oberio, Dilshada, Satya Jamwal, Pinki Bhat, Ravinder Kour, Sanjeev Gupta, Ashok Singh Manhas, Rohit Bali, Asha Mehra, Farman Ali, Komal Manhas, Waris Gill, S Peter, Raja Naveed and ML Munshi.
