Two drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw

RAMBAN, Sept 5: Chanderkote and Banihal Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Inspector Padam Dev Singh under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Pardeep Singh Sen and SSP Ramban Mohita Sharma laid a naka and intercepted a container bearing registration number PB05AB-2505.
During checking, police team recovered 22.800 kilograms poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Ashwani Kumar, son of Shankar Dass of District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 135/2022 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Banihal headed by HC Abdul Latief under the supervision of SHO Banihal Inspector Mohd Afzal Wani, SDPO Banihal Nisar Ahmed Khoja and SSP Ramban Mohita Shama during checking intercepted a tanker bearing registration number JK02CR-3303.
During frisking, police team recovered 4.900 kilograms poppy straw from the truck and arrested the driver, who was identified as Akash Bali, son of Rajesh Bali of Mehmoodpur Tehsil Bishnah District.
A case under FIR Number 200/2022 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation initiated.
