Two bodies recovered from Chenab

RAMBAN, Mar 9: Police fished out bodies of two persons from Chenab river near Maitra area.
As per police sources, some passerby noticed a body floating in river Chenab near Kanter nallah.
After getting information, a team from Ramban police station rushed to the spot and divers were pressed in to recover the body.
The deceased was identified as Mani, son of Jagdish, a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab.
He was among four, who were trying to smuggle narcotics from Valley to Punjab. To evade arrest, Mani jumped into Chenab on January 19, this year.
Meanwhile, police also recovered another body from Chenab river near Jhulla bridge at Maitra. He has been identified as Partap Singh, son of Kesar Singh, a resident of Hochak Ukerhal.
Partap Singh and his father were killed, when the Maruti car bearing registration number CH03-3174 they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab near Jaswal Bridge in Karol area on January 17, this year. The body of Kesar Singh was yet to be traced out.
After completing legal formalities at DH Ramban, the bodies of the deceased will be handed over to family members for last rites.
