RAMBAN, Feb 5: A traffic cop was killed, when a rashly driven truck hit him near Digdol area here today.
As per police sources, a traffic cop identified as Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohammad Yousuf Khan, a resident of Acchabal, Srinagar was performing his duties at Digdol, when a rashly driven truck bearing registration number JK22-3796 hit him. The truck driver after parking the vehicle on the road side, managed to escape from the spot.
The profusely bleeding cop was rushed to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
The body has been handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities.
A case under Section 304-A RPC has been registered at Ramban police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the truck driver.
However, no arrest was made till last reports were compiled.
