JAMMU, Feb 5: General secretary National Conference Ali Mohammad Sagar today described the emerging PDP-BJP alliance as just a power sharing arrangement, lacking ideological convergence or commitment towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The joining together of the duo is to get glued to power whatever the conditions”, the general secretary said, adding that the tie-up may be witnessed in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections as well.
Mr Sagar was addressing a meeting of the district functionaries of Kathua and Samba at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, which was attended by Provincial President Jammu, Devender Rana, among others.
He said any arrangement based on convenience rather than commitment remains fraught with vested interest and expressed apprehensions that this may lead to political uncertainty in near future. The sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir, which is faced with numerous challenges, may not afford to half hearted approach, given its peculiar needs and requirements. In this context, he made a mention of the sincere efforts of the National Conference in taking care of the aspirations of the each region and every segment of population. “This tempo is needed to be maintained at all costs”, he added.
The General Secretary exhorted the party cadre to maintain close watch over the evolving scenario and foil any such attempt which may be aimed at weakening the communal and regional fabric of the state which has made it distinct across the country. He said the future of Jammu and Kashmir lies in strengthened regional and religious ties and National Conference will continue to work towards this objective even if it entails offering sacrifices. “History stands testimony to the fact how the party workers maintained the pluralistic ethos during most testing times”, he said while exuding confidence about the three regions remaining a beautiful vase of colorful flowers.
Speaking on the occasion, the NC provincial president Devender Rana recalled how forcefully National Conference had bounced back after each challenge posed by the adversaries. He said that National Conference is the only party having its presence in every nook and corner of the State. This being the strength of the public movement, “there is no reason why National Conference will not bounce back in a big way”, he said and added that history stands testimony to the fact that NC has emerged stronger during challenges.
Mr Rana exuded confidence to overcome all obstacles created by conspirators and serve the people with renewed vigour.
