LEH, Sept 24: As part of Taxpayers Education Program, Commissionerate of Income Tax TDS, Chandigarh today organized TDS awareness seminar here today.
H C Negi, Commissioner of Income Tax, TDS Chandigarh, who is incharge of TDS in respect of States of J&K, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, was the chief guest on the occasion.
While inaugurating the session, he gave an overview of the role and scope of TDS and its contribution towards tax collection. He emphasized the role of taxation in nation building and spoke about the scope of applicability of TDS in Ladakh division.
A power point presentation about the provisions of TDS and obligations of Drawing and Disbursing Officers was given by Amit Trakroo, Income Tax Officer, TDS Circle, Jammu and Riyaz A Bhat, ITO, TDS Circle, Srinagar.
The seminar was attended by more than one hundred Drawing and Disbursing Officers of Ladakh. An interactive session was also held on TDS provisions and mandatory e-filing of quarterly TDS statements.
The participants expressed the hope that conducting of such programs would go a long way in creating an awareness among the deductors.
Earlier, Amit Trakroo, Income Tax Officer, TDS Circle, Jammu and Riyaz A Bhat, ITO, TDS Circle, Srinagar had a meeting with the senior Army Officers of 14 Corps wherein the applicability of TDS provisions on payments made was discussed.
