Kissan Board meets to review damages caused by rains, floods

JAMMU, Sept 24: State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans (SABDK) today organized a meeting to review the heavy losses caused to the vegetable, maize and fruit crops besides land damages due to incessant rains followed by strong winds and thunder storms and havoc created due to floods.
The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chairman (Minister of State), SABDK, Radhay Sham Sharma and attended by many including members of State and Districts Boards for Kissan, Chairman Bhartiya Kissan Council, KK Paroach, Rajesh Sharma, Chairman Cooperative Union, Ganesh Dass, Krishi Pandit, Sarpanchs form Samba, RS Pura and Bishnah, Vikrant from Cooperative Milk Producers, Floriculture Expert, Tejinder Singh and Chief officers of Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry department.
All the participants put forth their valuable suggestions for the welfare and development of farming Community such as suitable compensation and financial assistance for damaged crops, houses, perished cattles, land damages besides adequate funds for the construction of Check dams, providing veterinary doctors, issuance of Land Record Books to all the farmers of the State and suitable increase in rates of milk.
The participants also demanded for recommending to all the Agriculture and allied departments for involving Kissan Community in all their meetings and Kissan melas. Timely starting of Procurement Mandis was also demanded for which Vice–President on the spot issued directions to the concerned officers for taking immediate necessary steps in this regard.
It was also demanded that the concerned patwaries be directed to put in revenue records of all the losses of crops in all the areas of the State in Kharaba Girdwari so that farmers do not face any problem in getting their due compensation timely.
Radhay Sham assured that their genuine demands or suggestions will be taken up with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shortly for the timely redressal. He also assured his whole hearted cooperation in serving the farming community of the State.
