UDHAMPUR, Sept 24: Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar today reviewed the crime scenario of Udhampur-Reasi Range and also took stock of security arrangements for forthcoming Navratra festival at Katra.
The meeting was attended by DIG Udhampur -Reasi Range Gareeb Dass, SSP Udhampur Anil Mangotra, Addl SP Reasi Sharief Chowhan, Addl SP Katra Pawan Parihar and other Police officers who apprized the IGP of various steps taken for maintenance of law & order, prevention of crime, speedy investigation and disposal of cases besides strengthening Police-Public rapport.
Briefing the Officers, Rajesh Kumar emphasized the need for people-friendly approach and behaviour of the Police force at the cutting edge level and stressed that the cops should not only be fair in their actions but also look like being fair to everyone.
Public confidence can be generated through our people-friendly attitude which should be exhibited at all levels, he said and stressed for professional approach in investigation of crime especially public significant cases.
Later the IGP held a meeting with Police Officers, CO Shrine Board, Commandant CRPF, SSP Traffic NHW, representatives from Army and other agencies to review the security arrangements required for the up coming Navratra festival during which the rush of Yatris goes up considerably and additional deployment becomes necessary. He directed all the concerned to take required steps to make the event a successful by providing all type of facilities to the visiting pilgrims. The influx of pilgrims is expected to swallow during Navratra days, he maintained.
