JAMMU, June 5: Volunteer retired employees of SRTC held demonstration and dharna outside Press Club under the leadership of Dev Raj Bali, president All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association in support of their demands.
The speakers while highlighting their long pending demands sought immediate attention of the Chief Minister for getting cleared their pending dues for which they have been struggling continuously for the past five years.
The speakers strongly criticized the attitude of higher authorities of Transport and Finance Departments for their failure to clear their legitimate dues and alleged connivance of both in playing foul game regarding their demands.
They said at the time of voluntary retirement they were promised to get their dues cleared within 60 days but it was sorry state of affairs that their pending dues including 16 slabs of COLA with effect fromJanuary 1, 2006, 18 slabs of 2007, 26 slabs of 2008, 25 slabs of 2009 and 31 slabs upto April 2010 and pending arrears since 1999, 6th Pay Commission from January 2006 and total amount of 742 VRS employees come out to Rs 30,16,10,673.00.
Those who also addressed were Balwinder Singh, Surinder Sigh, B B Sharma, Surjit Singh, Sain Mohd, Sat Bhushan, Kulbir Singh and others.
