RAMBAN, June 5: Chanderkote police foiled major bid of smuggling 22 bovine animals and arrested a driver.
As per police sources, police team from Chanderkote police station led by SHO Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli under the supervision of Additional SP Ramban Arun Gupta and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing registration JK02AC-6922 to stop.
Instead of responding to the signal of the police, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the active cops of Chanderkote police station chased the vehicle and intercepted it at some distance.
During checking, police rescued 22 bovine animals loaded in a cruel manner in the vehicle and nabbed the driver.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Salim, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Pouni Patta, District Reasi.
A case under FIR Number 33/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Chanderkote police station and investigation started.
It is to mention here that after foiling bovine smuggling bid at Chanderkote today, District Police Ramban foiled fourth continuous bid of milch animals smuggling. On June 2, a bovine smuggling bid was foiled at Jawahar Tunnel, on June 3 at Ramsoo and on June 4 at Ramban.
