REASI, July 23: Social Welfare Department Reasi in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a public sector enterprises functioning under the control of Ministry of Social Justice Government of India, today distributed different aids and appliances among beneficiaries.
The aids and appliances were distributed during a camp organized under Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) scheme. The camp was held under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Reasi Charandeep Singh and District Social Welfare Officer Gulshan Kumar Sharma.
A total 380 different aids and appliances including Tricycles for Adults, Tricycle Children, Wheelchairs Adult and Small, CP Chair, Hearing Aid, MSIED kit, Smart Cane, Smart Phone, Daisy Players, Braille Kit, Crutches, Walking Sticks, Rolator, Callipers, Artificial Limbs, etc at a cost of Rs 13 lakh were distributed among 192 beneficiaries, in presence of DC Reasi, Director Social Welfare, Samita Sethi and Deputy Director Social Welfare Shivwali.
Speaking on the occasion, Gulshan Kumar Sharma said that the main objective of the scheme is to assist the needy disabled persons by providing durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern standard aids and appliances to promote physical social, psychological rehabilitation of persons with disabilities by reducing the effects of disabilities and at the same time enhance their economic potential.
He further emphasized that Social Welfare Department today arranged the vehicles for the Disabled persons who weren’t able to come at the camp from different stations like Bhomag, Thuroo, Katra, Mahore, Pouni, Reasi.
Charandeep Singh, while speaking, said that in future also the District Administration along with Social Welfare Department will arrange these assessment camps at various sub-divisions like Mahore, Chassana, Gulabgarh, Pouni, Katra, Reasi under, so that left out disabled persons can also get the benefit under ADIP Scheme.
Hardev Singh (TSWO Mahore), Camp coordinator, various representatives of ALIMCO and NGOS like SAKSHAM, MUSKAA, Youth Brigade, besides other officials of Social Welfare Department were also present on the occasion.
