JAMMU, Apr 29: The 24th meeting of the Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here for deliberating on various measures for developing this college as a centre of excellence in nursing education.In this context, the Governing Body discussed the plan of activities and the modalities for starting M Sc Nursing Programme in the SMVDCoN by 2020 when the first batch of B Sc Nursing students of the Session 2016-17, will pass out. This will be as part of the 10-year Vision Plan which has been formulated, interalia, for developing SMVDCoN as a pioneering institution in imparting top quality nursing education from Under-Graduate to PhD level.
The meeting, chaired by Maj Gen S K Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the College of Nursing; was attended by Umang Narula, Principal Secretary to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Dr V Verma, Dean, SMVDU; (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Administrator; and Dr Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College of Nursing.
The meeting, while discussing the Academic Calendar and Calendar of Events of the Nursing College for the Session 2018-19, also decided to establish a Placement Cell in the SMVDCoN next year for the benefit of the students.
It was informed that the admission process of students for the 3rd Batch of SMVDCoN for the Session 2018-19 has commenced from 16 April with the start of the online filling up of applications and the last date for online filling up the applications is 27 May. The Entrance Test will be held on 3rd June 2018 at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
It is pertinent to mention that a scholarship scheme for the B. Sc. Nursing students of SMVDCoN has been introduced to provide financial assistance to the meritorious as well as poor and needy students.
