KARGIL, Apr 29: Principal District and Session Judge Kargil, Sanjiv Kumar Bhagat, who is also the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Kargil, Saturday inaugurated a free legal aid clinic set up in the premises of Panchayat Ghar at Bodh Kharboo.
The clinic has been opened with the objective of providing different kinds of legal support to the local population of the area hence ensure access to justice at doorsteps of the people.
Senior Prosecuting Officer Kargil Nawang Nurboo, Public Prosecutor Kargil Kacho Manzoor Hussain Khan, President Bar Association Kargil Khadim Hussain, Block Development Officer Chiktan among others were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagat enlightened the gathering about Prenatal Sex Determination Act, Domestic Violence Act and other other relevant provisions of law regarding the welfare of wives and children.
He said legal awareness programmes will be organised in the remotest areas of the district in near future so that the people could be made aware of various government schemes for the welfare of the poor and needy.
On the occasion, Para Legal Volunteers active in the area were introduced to the people.
