JAMMU, Apr 24: To take stock of the works to be constructed for the welfare of patients and attendants in Government Medical College, (GMC) a meeting of the Hospital Development Committee (HDC) was held in the Committee Hall of GMC which was chaired by State president BJP and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA), officiating Chairman of the Hospital. Officials including Principal Dr Sunanda Raina, Medical Superintendent Dr Ramesh Gupta and representatives of various other departments of GMC and other associated hospitals were also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed developmental works to be constructed in GMC so that in coming times the patients coming from various parts of the State should not face any problems. Sat Sharma said that a provision out of Hospital Development Fund has been made by the Hospital Development Board for the upcoming developmental works to be undertaken in the Hospital.
He stated that decisions finalized in the meeting include engagement of 12 need based semi-skilled workers to run engineering services in the Hospital. Repair/painting of existing trolleys, wheel chairs, hospital beds, examination couches and office furniture for which a provision of Rs two lakh has been made.
A provision of Rs two lakh has also been made for repair of all damaged doors in the hospital and Rs 0.50 lakh for purchase of fly catchers. Besides, a provision of Rs three lakh was made for purchase of sanitation items, plumbing and carpentry items for which a direction to Executive Engineer Civil has been passed to prepare the estimates for the same.
Sharma said Rs two lakh was kept for purchase and repair of electrical items in the Hospital for which estimates will be submitted by Executive Engineer Mechanical. A provision of Rs 0.50 lakh has been kept for purchase of flower pots, appointment of six trolley boys on minimum wages, appointing four porters for transporting stores material to different wards. Payments on account of transporting and treating the Bio-Medical waste generated out of the Hospital to the tune of Rs 1.56 lakh. Rs one lakh for repair of oxygen/suction point/ Nitrous Oxide points installed at various points in the Hospital for which estimates will be submitted by Executive Engineer Mechanical. Besides, for white washing of rooms at Chopra Nursing Home and repairs of Central Sterile Supply Department (CCSD) will be done at cost of Rs two lakh. In addition to it for appointment of 20 Safai Karamcharis and 20 security guards for Hospital a committee has been framed.
