Samba police rescues 6 bovines, arrests driver

SAMBA, Dec 2: District police Samba foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing six animals in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Samba.
Acting on credible information regarding transportation of bovines, a police party of Police Post (PP) RA Talli laid a surprise vehicle check point near village Manohar Gopala and during checking signaled an Ashok Leyland pickup vehicle without Registration Number which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley to stop.
On seeing police party, the driver tried to fled away from spot but was apprehended by alert cops. During checking of the vehicle, four bovines were rescued and were tied in a cruel manner.
The bovine smuggler has been identified as Sharif Ali, son of Baaby of Mukandpur tehsil, Marheen district Kathua. In this connection, a case FIR No. 351/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at Police Station, Samba and investigation started.
In an another incidence, a police party of PS Samba while performing vehicle checking duty at Main Chowk, Samba signaled to stop a Mahindra vehicle bearing Registration Number JK08J/9553 which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated its speed and fled away from the spot. The alert cops successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it few meters away from the naka point. During checking of the vehicle, two cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. However driver managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 349/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba and investigation started. All the cattle rescued in two incidents were shifted to a safer place and both the vehicles were also seized.
