Revoke hike in passenger fare: MULBPA

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 25: Municipal & Urban Local Bodies Pensioners’ Association (MULBPA) has demanded the J&K Government to revoke 30% hike in passenger fare of public transport vehicles.
Raising the demand during a telephonic meeting held today under the chairmanship of their president B S Jamwal, the Association members strongly criticizes hike in passenger fares. All the lower class pensioners said in one voice that the decision taken by the Government for increasing passenger fare is irrelevant, unjustified and beyond the pocket of poor class man and pensioners.
The UT Government has not bothered for the common masses/pensioners who are already under pressure to meet their both ends meet while as Modi Government has already frozen the DA upto ending June 2021 of the pensioners which has to be given the benefit on account of increasing the market price rates after every six months.
The Association said that the UT Government should review its decision at the earliest to mitigate problems of poor class people/pensioners otherwise people would have to come on roads in protest for such unbearable hike.
