ASHA workers stage protests

JAMMU, June 25: While maintaining social distancing and following the laid guidelines, ASHA Workers Union here today staged protests in many districts of Jammu region as part of a nationwide call for their demands.
The protesting Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers were demanding that the Government must provide safety gears to all the frontline workers especially those in the health sector, in containment areas and red zones.
Leader of the protesters Anita Rajput said, there is an urgent need for frequent, random and free COVID-19 tests of all frontline workers besides Rs 50 lakh insurance cover to those covering deaths while on duty and coverage of treatment of COVID-19 for the entire family of such health workers.
They also demanded an additional incentive of Rs. 25,000 per month for all health workers engaged on contract and compensation of minimum Rs. 5 lakh for all those who get infected while on duty.
