JAMMU, June 7: Rahul Sahai, Chair PHDCCI Jammu Chapter, called on Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary Tourism, Government of J&K, and briefed him about the vision and working of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Rahul Sahai presented several suggestions, recommendations and issues related to tourism sector in Jammu. He suggested showcasing Jammu’s Tourist destinations in Katra town. He said that there should be mass showcasing of tourist destinations of Jammu in Katra town by playing videos all the time in Katra markets, prominent chowks, track, making of a museum at Katra showcasing Jammu’s destinations so that tourists can see and visit other places too.
He added that there should be very vibrant tourism office in Katra which should take care of showcasing all Jammu’s destinations to the visiting religious tourists. They should take data from yatra slip counter of Shrine Board and WhatsApp videos should be sent to visiting tourists so that by the time they come back after darshan, they could be motivated to visit other places, he added.
He suggested that Suchetghar Beating Retreat should be in lines with Attari border and it should be done every day and not only on weekend as tourists can’t wait for weekends. He said that J&K Tourism twitter handle should showcase Jammu’s activities too as there is less awareness about tourist spots of Jammu.
Rahul Sahai recommended that the Tourism Department should support the startups. “Venues should be provided for events/ festivals by Tourism Department at Patnitop and other places for startups , liquor license should be there for that venue, local NOCs and sponsorship support should be available for startups, he added.
Rahul Sahai suggested introduction of new Tourist activities in and around Jammu like Jungle safari in forests of Jasrota & Nandani. He also suggested sports activities and having Cricket IPL Match at MAM Stadium, Golf Tournaments etc.
Rahul Sahai suggested that Street market, pubs and bars in lines with Mcleodganj should be developed in Patnitop besides widening of road. For Sanasar, Sahai stressed the need of identifying and auctioning hotel sites in and around Sanasar besides permission to startups for luxury tents. For Mansar and Surinsar Lakes, he said that hygienic conditions should be maintained at these places , especially in restaurants & toilets. For Kishtwar and Bhaderwah, he said that roads needs to be widened
