To foil any attempt by the land encroacher and his supporters the district administration cordoned the entire area and put the restrictions on movement of vehicular traffic and pedestrians from there. Even the media persons were denied entry in the area till entire building was brought down.
A high contingent of Police force and CRPF were deployed in the area to deal with any eventuality. Heavy machinery and four JCBs were put into service to demolish the concrete structure and entire mulba was lifted from the area and State land was freed from the clutches of the land mafia.
Earlier power supply to the area was also cut off. It may be recalled that Rajinder Singh alias Bubby has encroached one Kanal of State land in the area 15 years back and despite being served notices by the authorities of Kathua Municipal Council to vacate the land, he failed to honour the same.
The district administration Kathua led by District Development Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langer which has launched a drive to free the State land from the clutches of land mafia recently asked the MC Kathua to serve another notice to Bubby. Though the authorities of MC Kathua served the notice to Bubby he failed to vacate the land and instead made a strong argument with the authorities that the land belongs to him as per Revenue records as it was purchased by him 15 years back. However the administration did not accept the argument and went ahead with demolition of the building two days back. But the drive was suspended on Saturday after a newly born baby along with her mother who were putting up in the building were not in a position to move at that time. The team of the doctors who examined the mother and baby advised not to force them to leave the building under the prevailing circumstances. Following the advisory of doctors team the demolition drive was suspended on that day but all the shops in ground floor were sealed by the demolishing team and power and water connection to the entire complex was snapped.
The family living as tenants in the building left yesterday morning and the demolishing squad again started the operation in the afternoon yesterday by dismantling the shutters of the shops and the pillars of the building. Today the entire building was razed to ground and the task started three days back was accomplished fully.
