Police raids Sub Registrar’s office

JAMMU, Oct 28: The police today raided the office of Sub Registrar, Jammu South located at JDA Complex, Janipur here today.
Official sources said that police party led by SP North, Jammu, PD Nitya, assisted by SDPO Bakshi Nagar, Amit Sharma and SHO Janipur, Insp Gurmeet Singh raided the office of Sub Registrar (Registries), Jammu South Surinder Bhagat and reportedly seized some record. The police team also subjected some officials to intense questioning. Surinder Bhagat, who is a KAS officer, was on leave due to Covid and Avtar Singh Jasrotia (Sub Register R S Pura) has been given the charge of Jammu South, Registries.
Sources revealed that earlier it was suspected that team from Vigilance or Crime Branch has organized raid but later, it was realized that Executive police team was on the job today.
Though concerned senior police officials were tight lipped over the matter , yet the sources revealed that on the basis of some complaints related to corruption in the said office, the police team conducted raid. The police officers refused to share the details and said they were investigating the matter. However, no formal FIR has been registered in this connection.
