RAJOURI, Apr 26: Police here today claimed they have foiled a bovine smuggling bid at Darhal area by rescuing three animals being transported illegally in a vehicle that has been seized.
The individual driving the seized vehicle has also been arrested, they said.
During routine naka checking at Iqbal Gate area, a team of Police Station Darhal, led by SHO concerned, Inspector Manpreet Singh and under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi, a Tata Mobile (JK11G-1069) was intercepted, a police official said.
On searching, he said, three animals crammed inside the vehicle in a cruel manner were released.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Mohammad Intkhab of Thanamang was arrested and booked in case FIR number 26/2026 under section 223 BNS and section 11 of the PCA Act registered at Police Station Darhal, with further investigation set into motion, added the police official.
