Police arrests 3 drug peddlers, seizes heroin

KATHUA, Jan 10: Intensifying its action against drug dealings and to neutralise the activities of drug peddlers within the district, Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today recovered approximately 74 grams of heroin (Chitta) like narcotics from Goond Naka of Police Station (PS) Kathua, three drug peddlers were arrested, one vehicle (Motorbike) was seized on the spot.
Police said a police team led by Inspector, Rajesh Kumar in charge Police Post (PP) Nagri under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua, Shammi Kumar during naka checking duty near Goond Naka intercepted one vehicle (Royal Enfield Motor Bike) bearing Registration Number PB02BC-6585 which was enrouted from Punjab towards Nagri Parole. When reached near Goondh Naka it was directed to stop for checking. On physical checking of one Kabir Kapoor alias Kabi, son of Munish Kapoor of Jagdamba Colony House Number 05, Galli No. 01 Majitha Road Amritsar approximately 42grams of Heroin (Chitta) like narcotics was recovered while on thorough checking of Liaqat Ali, son of Sharif Mohammad of Korepunnu Marheen Kathua approximate 32 grams of Heroin (Chitta) like narcotic were recovered and Navdeep Singh, son of Gurudev Singh of Gopal Nagar Gali number 01 and House No. 87A tehsil and district Amritsar, Punjab, police thus by making a total of approximately 74 grams of heroin (chitta ) like narcotics was recovered from their illegal possession whereas Magistrate Nagri and officials of Legal Metrology Department were also brought on spot.
Thereafter all the recovered narcotics was seized and all the three drug peddlers were arrested along with seized the motorbike on spot. A case vide FIR No. 15/2022 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua while further investigation is underway.
