YRS, Sena demand holiday on birth anniversary of Maharaja

JAMMU, Jan 10: Members of Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) here today gathered near the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh at River Tawi Bridge and raised slogans demanding holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Hindu monarch of erstwhile J&K State.
Addressing YRS members, Sabha president, Rajan Singh said that yesterday a delegation of YRS had met the J&K LG over the demand and the LG had assured to resolve the issue soon.
A senior member of YRS and former president of Sabha, Surinder Singh informed that after this the youth dispersed peacefully raising pro-Maharaja slogans.
Core Committee Chairman of YRS, Raghubir Singh among others were also present on the occasion and all the members of Sabha said that holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on September 23 should be declared as soon as possible as sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are attached with this demand.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena J&K also took out a rally from Bikram Chowk to Maharaja Hari Singh’s statue demanding holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja. The rally was led by Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni who expressed hope that assurance of the LG will be honoured soon.
