Pilgrim commits suicide by jumping before DMU

UDHAMPUR,  May 9: A pilgrim of Mata Vaishno Devi committed suicide by jumping before moving DMU while  eight persons were injured in two separate road accident, here today.
Reports said that a pilgrim after paying obeisance at  Mata Vaishno Devi shrine,  suddenly jumped before the moving train early in the morning at Cherry Sayal Railway Station. On being informed,  police shifted  the dead body to  mortuary in the District Hospital Udhampur.
As per the token registration number,  issued by Shrine Board Katra, to the deceased,  his name was  Shiv Shanker. Police has registered a case in this regard for further  investigations.
Meanwhile, six persons were injured when a Mini Bus collided with a  Mahindra vehicle on the National Highway  near Tikri.  Police rushed to the spot and shifted  the injured persons  to District Hospital Udhampur.
The injured were identified as the Mini bus driver, Krishan Kumar, son of Hem Raj of Tikri, Sunny (driver of Mahindra vehicle) son of Chain Singh of Doda, passenger  Shanti Devi, wife of Devi Ditta of Mand, Vidya  Devi, wife of Ram Dass of Farna, Sunita Devi wife of Sudash Kumar of Dansa and  Darshana Devi wife of Munshi Ram of Omara Morh Udhampur.
In a separate road accident, two trucks collided near Bali nallah, here today, resulting into injuries to both the drivers. They were identified as Raju of Chenani and Romesh Kumar, son of Sewa Ram of Vijaypur. In view of their serious condition, the duo was shifted to GMC Hospital Jammu.
