JAMMU, Apr 23: A Joint Commanders Conference (JCC) is proposed to be held on the anniversary of Operation Sindoor on May 7 to discuss situation during past one year and roadmap ahead especially if Pakistan-backed terrorists try to commit another terror act.
The conference assumes significance as it is being held between May 6-8 in Jaipur exactly a year after Operation Sindoor carried out by the Indian Armed Forces deep inside Pakistan and PoJK in the aftermath of April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians including 25 tourists and a local guide were killed.

“The JCC is expected to be joined by top commanders of tri-services including Army, Indian Air Force and Navy and may well be addressed by the Chief of Defence Staff among others,” official sources said.
The Northern Command is expected to give detailed briefing at the JCC post one year of Operation Sindoor including the situation along frontiers with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. Though the situation remains normal along the borders with Pakistan, the infiltration attempts remain a cause of concern, the sources said.
“The roadmap ahead will also figure prominently at the JCC,” the sources said, adding almost all issues along Pakistan, China and other frontiers besides anti-terror situation in Jammu and Kashmir will be reviewed.
Recently, the Army Commanders Conference was held in New Delhi for three days.
Though several States share borders with Pakistan including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat; the situation remains volatile primarily in J&K though, of late, attempts of smuggling weapons and narcotics have also increased in neighbouring Punjab.
During Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces destroyed several terror camps and military installations deep inside Pakistan and PoJK from May 6-10. Several terrorists including top commanders of the outfits were killed.
