PHE workers stage protest, demand release of wages

UDAHMPUR, Aug 2: The PHE workers from various sub divisions of district Udhampur held strong protest demonstration against the State Administration and demanded release of their pending wages.
The employees of the department, under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, led by its president, Som Nath assembled at PHE complex Udhampur in the morning and started massive protest demonstration. The workers from Ramnagar, Majalta, Chanani, Panchari, Khoon, Kud, Tikri, Jib, Jaganoo and Gahri Ramble besides Udhampur Division participated in the protest programme.
They were shouting slogans against the higher authorities in the PHE department and also the State Administration. They alleged that despite repeated representations and protest dharnas, the authorities failed to address their issues.
Som Nath while addressing large gathering urged upon the state authorities to resolve the pending issues of the PHE employees/ workers or get ready to face long agitation. He condemned the attitude of the higher authorities in the department for ignoring their demands.
He demanded release of wages of the PHE workers pending for 55 months before Raksha Bandan and Janamashtami festivals, remove shortage of staff in water stations and offices, clear pending SRO 43 cases, conduct DPC at Divisional and Provincial level, change designation of the employees as per their nature of job, enhance Medical Allowance of the employees and pensioners. He also demanded implementation of SRO 520 and regularization of all the pending workers.
Trade Union members Vijay Kumar, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Balbir Raj, Baldev Raj, Parth Singh, Janait Ali, Raj Kumar, Lashman Singh, Karan Singh, Mohinder Singh, Amit Dubey and Prem Nath also spoke on the occasion.
