UDHAMPUR, Sept 10: A meeting of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association was held at Johnu Barta under the leadership of Vijay Kumar, district general secretary of the association in which employees drawn from Jaganoo, Ritti, Ghagote, Barmen, Thanova, Dhanal, Pipal, Sarsoo, Dharmara and other areas participated.
The meeting held that some employees of Jammu province have not received their wages for the past 22 to 24 months but those at the helm of affairs have taken the matter lightly while the workers were starving. Vijay Kumar urged the Government to immediately release the wages of workers. He also appealed the PHE workers and employees to get united for the purpose.
Other demands highlighted in the meeting pertained to Regularization of daily wagers and contractual employees; Change of designation of employees as per the jobs being performed by them; Implementation of Minimum Wages Act by enhancing their wages to Rs 400 per day; Release of pending wages of employees; Filling of vacant posts and creation of new posts for new water supply schemes etc.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Suraj Parkash, Dara Singh, Kartar Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Dinesh Kumar, Burf Singh, Mohan Lal etc.
