UDHAMPUR, Aug 7: A pedestrian was knocked to death by a speeding Alto car at Bypass National Highway, near Malhar road Udhampur.
The deceased was identified as Kuldeep Kumar (30), son of Mani Ram of village Kandiyar Katra. He was hit by Maruti Alto car bearing Registration Number JK02AW-9983. Locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured person to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his critical condition. However, he soon succumbed to his injuries.
Later, the dead body was sent for postmortem and after completion of all the legal formalities, it was handed over to the family members for last rites.
Police has registered the case in this connection and arrested driver of the car.
