RAJOURI, Aug 7: A yet another young pregnant woman died of negligence in District Hospital, Rajouri this afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Nigat Begum (33), wife of Mehmood Shah, resident of Plangarh village in Thannamandi. The woman was brought to Rajouri Hospital with labour pain by the family members at around 9.30 am today.
Her relative, Abida Kouser alleged that she had severe pain and they approached hospital staff to call doctor. Only two nurses were there attending patients in the unit, and no doctor came to see the serious patient. Her condition went on deteriorating. She was given one injection by the nurse but she did not improve even after that. ” We requested to call doctor or refer the patient to Jammu but they did not agree and abused them and pushed outside,” she alleged.
Ultimately, the patient died at around 3.30 pm. More relativeas arrived after coming to know about the death. They started protest against hospital staff and administration. The concerned staff disapprered sensing trouble. The relatives refused to lift the dead body and demanded that double murder case be registered against Medical staff for negligence.
Later, SHO Rajouri Sameer Jeelani reached there and he assured legal action in this regard. He asked also the family to meet District Magistrate and asked the family to take away the dead body to their home.
Medical Supt of DH Rajouri, Dr Yaqoob said that in connection with some old inquiry ordered by DC Rajouri, he and most of the doctors of the hospital had gone to the CMO office today. But some doctors were there in hospital to attend the patients. After coming back, he came to know about the death of a patient. Taking the incident so lightly, Med Supt said he would hold inquiry into the matter.
It is pertinent to mention here that hardly last week, a patient died in this hospital due to negligence of the staff. Rajourui hospital in Jammu region has become notorious in such incidents for the past some time. The hapless public was watching the role of District Administration in this regard.
