Parnaik for out of box thinking

JAMMU, Sept 18:
General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GoC-in-C) Northern Command, Lt Gen K T Parnaik, today emphasised the need for Army personnel to have out of the box thinking in the present era of technology.
This will ensure an amalgamation of operational concepts with increase in military effectiveness, he said.
“There is the need for all personnel to have mental mobility, spirit of innovation and out of box thinking in the present era of technology transition so as to effectively combine them with operational concepts for a proportional increase in combat potential and military effectiveness,” Parnaik said after inaugurating ‘North Tech-2012’ in Udhampur.
The two day symposium-cum-exhibition starting today is being organised under the aegis of Headquarters Northern Command with the aim to provide Army units, maintenance agencies and industry an opportunity to exhibit their innovations and technical products on a common platform.
The Army commander also lauded wide participation by the industry in showcasing valuable products to include diverse technologies, which will go a long way in equipping units and enhance operational efficiency.
It showcased creativity and innovations at its best using contemporary technology to address various challenges and find solutions that could enhance the effectiveness of weapon systems and soldiers, he said.
The event has been conceived to enable the strengthening of participation between the Army and industry to further the pace of ongoing modernisation of the former. (PTI)
