UDHAMPUR, June 13: Mother and step father of a 5-year old girl have been arrested by Ramnagar Police for mercilessly torturing the child.
The matter came into light after a video went viral on social media , in which the small girl of 5 years is displaying the injury marks on her body and saying that the parents regularly torture her.
Taking cognizance of the video, SHO Ramnagar, Jaswinder Singh swung into action and arrested the accused parents, identified as Chotu, son of Koka and his wife Nimu, resident of Chigli Chouri, Ramnagar.
In this connection, a case FIR Number 65/2020, under Section 75 Juvenile Justice Act 2015 has been registered at Police Station Ramnagar and further investigation is going on.
According to Police, Chotu is step father of the victim and Nimu is her biological mother, who has married the former after divorcing her first husband.
With the help of Child Welfare Board and Child Helpline, the rescued girl child is being restored by the Police to her maternal grandparents.
