Pak jawan killed on LoC

JAMMU, Nov 12: Pakistan army today resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district targeting forward defence locations and civilian areas in Balakote, Shahpur and Kirni, prompting effective retaliation by the Indian side in which a Pakistan army personnel was killed.
Panic gripped the civilians living in forward villages as long range mortar shells landed near their houses this afternoon when Pakistan army violated ceasefire and resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing at Balakote, Shahpur and Kirni sectors along the LoC in Poonch district.

Reports said the Indian side retaliated Pakistan’s shelling and firing very effectively, leading to heavy exchanges between the two sides, which lasted an hour.
A Pakistan army soldier Suhail Ahmed was killed in retaliatory shelling by the Indian Army across Balakote sector in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district, sources said, adding that some more army personnel of Pakistan were reported to have been injured but their exact numbers were not known.
However, there was no report of any casualties or damage on the Indian side, reports said.
They added that number of mortar shells fell close to the civilian houses but the people had narrow escape as they had confined themselves in the houses.
