SRINAGAR, Oct 15:
Pakistani troops opened another front, targeting forward Indian posts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector in the frontier district of Kupwara today.
Pakistan troops resorted to indiscriminate unprovoked firing from across the LoC in Keran sector, targeting forward posts and civilian areas. Indian troops also retaliated, sources said. A security force jawan was reportedly injured in the Pak firing, they said, adding that the casualties suffered by Pakistani troops was not immediately clear.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched a massive search operation the woods to foil any infiltration attempt from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) under the cover of Pak troops firing. On September 20, Pak troops violated the ceasefire in which one soldier was killed and three others were injured in Keran sector.
A large number of trained militants are waiting at launch pads on the LoC to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to heavy snowfall.
Pak troops have been violating 2003 ceasefire almost daily in the Jammu region, where civilians, including women and children, are becoming victims of shelling and firing. (UNI)
