JAMMU, Feb 24: Believe it or not—a transformer lying at a shop in the village with station for fixing it also ready, but, over a year has passed and it is yet to be installed.
The villagers in the hamlet Gurah Jagir in the outskirts of Akhnoor town rue the poor work culture of the department concerned while some can’t clearly stated the reason behind the long delay yet others held political angle responsible.
Still a few claimed that a failed candidate of Panchayat elections was creating obstacles.
“The summer season is just coming and we will have to suffer due to heat if the transformed is not installed soon,” Prem—a youth from the village said.
Sarpanch of the village, Varinder Kumar avoided to hold anyone responsible and said that soon the transformer will be installed at the station made for it.
When contacted AEE concerned S.S Manhas said some transformers were purchased from the constituency development fund of the former MLA Rajiv Sharma about a year back.
“As there were no sufficient funds available with the department that time, these transformers were kept in the villages for which these were sanctioned,” he informed adding that in the meantime the station for installing the transformer was also made in village Gurah Jagir.
“Now, the transformer will be installed soon. I will ask the Junior Engineer concerned to get the work done by tomorrow itself,” the AEE said.
