DODA, July 18: One person died on the spot whereas a woman sustained critical injury after their car rolled down into a gorge near Batote on Batote-Kishtwar Highway, this afternoon.
According to police sources, a car bearing registration number JK02AK-5522 on its way to Batote from Doda plunged into a gorge 9 kilometres ahead of Batote, resulting into on the spot death of one person and serious injuries to a woman.
They said after receiving information a police team from police station Batote rushed to the spot. They evacuated the dead person and the injured lady from the gorge and shifted to CHC Batote where after providing medical aid, the injured lady was rushed to District Hospital Udhampur for specialized treatment.
The deceased person was identified as Jagdish Raj, 50, son of Dhutoo Ram, resident of Udhyanpur (Doda) whereas injured was identified as Priya Sharma, 24, daughter of Panchi Ram, resident of Prem Nagar (Doda).
Assar police had taken cognizance of the matter.
