JAMMU, Mar 20: Demanding their regularization and enhancement in honorarium, National Youth Corps volunteers today held a protest demonstration near the Press Club Jammu.
Shouting slogans against the Government and in support of their demands, the protesting NYC volunteers threatened to launch Pad-Yatra (march on foot) to Delhi if their grievance is not addressed.
The protesters, who assembled from different parts of Jammu division under the banner of All J&K National Youth Corps Association, were carrying placards and also demanding conversion of honorarium to salary.
While addressing the gathering, vice-president of the Association, Asif Ali Bhat sought to justify the demands of NYC volunteers, who were deployed in various departments on merit basis and not through back door.
He accused the Government of adopting use and throw policy towards the NYC volunteers, who had left their studies and joined the Corps when the State was passing through unrest in 2010.
Others who addressed the protest demonstration, included Sayed Bakar Jafri, Tanveer Hussain, Mushtaq Bhat, Jagdeep Singh, Bopinder Singh, Abid Hussain, Deepika Sharma, Ashraf Mughal and Deepak.
