Jora reviews physical, financial status of SJSRY

JAMMU, Mar 20: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local, Nawang Rigzin Jora, today chaired a meeting of Project Officers of District Urban Development Agencies of Jammu Division to review the physical and financial achievements for the year 2012-13 under Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY).
The Minister said that among various poverty alleviation schemes, the SJSRY scheme, administered by Urban Development Department has proved to be of immense help in reducing poverty in urban areas to some extent. The scheme provides loans, skill development training and other incentives to the urban poor people. He said the SJSRY is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at to provide gainful employment to un-employed and under-employed urban youth living below poverty line.
Earlier, the Minister was given a brief account of various incentives being provided to the beneficiaries under this scheme including Urban Self Employment Progr-amme(USEP), Development skills through training ,Urban Wage Employment progamme (UWEP), Skill development training for employment programme among urban poors.
It was informed that in the meeting that under USEP, against a target of 209, 197 cases have been sanctioned while 276 cases were sponsored by the agencies and accordingly Rs.82.60 lakh financial achievement has been made up to March 15,2013.
The Minister was also told that under Set-up scheme, 429 persons were covered while 832 cases have been covered under Computer training scheme on which Rs. 7.95 lakh have been spent by March 15, 2013. Besides, under USWP, Rs.5.08 have been expended achieving full targets.
Similarly, 1399 cases have been covered under UWEP with an expenditure of Rs. 3.49 lakh, so far.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner- Secretary, Housing and Urban Develop-ment Department, Jeet Lal Gupta, Joint Director (P&S), P. S. Kakroo, Chief Executive Officer, JUDA, Dr. Shubra Sharma, Project Officers, JUDA, Kathua, Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Reasi, Poonch and Rajouri.
The Minister emphasized on the JUDA Project Officers to ensure timely completion of the fixed targets with transparent and judicious utilization of funds.
