Now single token for family members at Passport office

JAMMU, Feb 6: The Passport office Jammu has decided to issue “Single Token” to members of a family seeking appointment for the issue of Passport.
Informing this on Tuesday, Regional Passport Officer (RPO) Jammu, NK Shil, said that this decision has been taken in view of the observation that the members of the family have to experience an unusual difficulty due to getting appointments on the same day but at different timing slots.
“As a consequence, they get their applications processed turn by turn at different timing slots spanning throughout day. At times also parents cannot attend for minors during the process of verification of application or they have to wait for a longer period till the processing of application of the family member on the last slot”, the RPO said.
He said as per new system, the members of a family can contact the head of the Passport Seva Kendra or RPO Jammu and obtain a single token. “Such Passport applicants of a family whose cases are being processed at different time slots as per online registration that have different date and different appointment on a particular date can avail the ‘walk-in’ family token at Passport office Jammu for submission and processing the application”, he added.
The RPO said that due to simplification of the rules and regulation of applicants, getting passports would become as easy as almost buying a cup of tea from a nearby tea stall.
