JAMMU,  Feb 6: In order to cater the needs of the people Vice Chairman, JAKFED Munish Sharma today inaugurated a drinking water tank constructed by the Dolat Ram a prominent resident of Resham Ghar Colony in remembrance of his wife Kanta Devi at Resham Ghar Colony Jammu.
During the inaugural ceremony of the water tank, Vice Chairman, said that the water tank will provide relief to dozens of saplings planted alongside road corner of Resham Ghar Colony and also to those residents who faced water shortage in day-to-day basis. Sharma also educated the residents about re-using of wastewater as much as possible.
He said there is an urgent need to stop wasting water as some people has the habit of leaving the tap running. Every locality at grass root level should come forward and construct the water tank for needy people instead of depending on anyone to sponsor, he added.
While addressing the gatherings, Sharma said that Jammu and Kashmir has not seen rainfall this Winter season and the problem of water scarcity may arises later in this area “so we should realize the gravity of the problem and avoid wasteful water usage’’, he added.
He said the need of the hour is to learn how to preserve per drop of water for longer period. Water is a major component of the environment and it should be given equal importance as other environmental issues. Vice Chairman asked the housing societies and other organizations to aware the people on conservation, usage of waste water and playing of waterless Holi including recycled sewage water.
Vice Chairman complimented Dolat Ram, a prominent resident of the colony for constructing the water tank for the noble cause and said that present BJP-PDP Government is fully committed to provide the basic amenities to common people.
Those who were present on the occasion were Dr. Mohan Lal Gupta, Chaman  Lal Puri, Tilak Raj Mahajan,  Sat Dev Sethi,  Sonu Manhas, Praveen Kumar Banta,  Ankit Mahajan, Sunil Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Babu Ram and others.
