JAMMU, Feb 6: ‘Lok Rang Mahotsava’, a two-day festival of folk music, dances and arts, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, concluded today.
The festival witnessed energetic performances of folk music, dances and creatively designed Rangolis by the students of different B Ed colleges affiliated with JU.
Prof Rajni Kant, Director College Development Council, who was chief guest at the valedictory function, awarded the Rolling Trophy to Bhartiya College of Education for being overall champions of the festival.
In folk song (group) event, Bhartiya College of Education and Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education were awarded Certificates of Appreciation. In folk song (solo) Shobha Rani from Rajiv Gandhi College of Education secured first position, Preeti Sharma from KC College of Education stood second and the third position was shared by Shivangi Sharma of KC Gurukul College of Education and Mulkraj Singh from Bhartiya College of Education.
In folk dance competition, Bhartiya College of Education stood first and KC College of Education stood second. In Rangoli event Veda S from Ranjit College of Education stood first, Aarti Rani from Ramisht College of Education was declared second and the third position was shared by Preeti from Surya College of Education and Khushboo Dogra from Bhartiya College of Education.
Prof Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare, informed about the programme where folk songs, folk dances and Rangolis were featured.
Dr Renu Sehgal and   Dr Kuldeep Raina were the judges for the singing events.  Anjali Sharma and Ravi Sharma were the adjudicators for the Dance event while Prof Neeru Sharma and Dr Samridhi Arora were the judges for Rangoli event.
Prominent among those.  who were present on the occasion, included Prof S K Pandita, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee, Dr Anupama Vohra, Associate Dean SW, members of Campus Cultural Committee, students, scholars and cultural secretaries. The event was coordinated by Ifra Kak, Culture Officer and Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor. The sound was looked after by Suraj Ganjoo and Arif.   Anjali Sharma, Sona Sharma, Namrta Chib and Diksha Andotra looked after the hall management.
