KATHUA, Mar 27: National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer team conducted a two day visit of Government Degree College Kathua to re-accredit the college for third cycle.
The NAAC Peer team comprised of Chairperson, Prof Gopal Kumar Niroula Chhetry, Vice Chancellor, Sikkim State University; Member Coordinator, Prof Radhey Rai from BHU, Varanasi and Member Prof Kashmir Singh, Principal, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab.
On the first day, the team interacted with all the stakeholders of the college including alumni, parents, representatives from Deptt of Higher Education and University of Jammu. The team held detailed interactions with Principal of the college Prof Kartar Chand and IQAC Coordinator, followed by a series of interactions with HoDs of all Departments and visits to the Departments and Laboratories. They also visited Career Counselling Cell, Anti-Ragging Cell, Anti-Harassment Cell, NCC, NSS, College Canteen, and language labs. The Peer team then visited Boys and Girls Hostels and interacted with the boarders of both these hostels. The team conducted an interactive session with all members of IQAC of the college. The team also inspected infrastructural facilities.
On the 2nd day, the team interacted with the students of the college followed by a detailed interaction with various committees of the college. Finally an exit meet was organised in which Principal of the college delivered welcome address.
Chairperson, Prof Gopal Kumar Niroula addressed the faculty members and appreciated the efforts of Principal and staff of the institution and suggested valuable measures to be adopted by the institution for further qualitative improvement. Finally Chairperson handed over the Peer Team Report to Principal of the college. Dr P K Rao, IQAC Coordinator of the college, presented a formal vote of thanks.
