JAMMU, Aug 25: Kuldeep Kumar Rao, an active member of Movement for Peace Equality & Justice, has alleged that all traditional political parties were playing politics over Article 35A & Article 370 by interpreting the same according to their own suitability.
He  said that the Article  370/ Art.35A were  not in the interest of the poor people of the State irrespective of caste, colour or creed but only the few selected people of  Kashmir and  especially the politicians of Kashmir and  the ruling MLAs of the State are being benefitted.  “The politicians and bureaucrats are also getting benefit of this special status by increasing their own pay salaries and other benefits. The tenure of Legislative Assembly is 5 years in all States of our country but in J&K State its tenure is 6 years, thanks to Article.370,” Rao said and added that all these parties were just trying to invoke the sentiments of the people simply with an eye on the next coming elections. “It is just to keep the masses in dark by not allowing them to think about the justification of this obsolete Article,” he said and cautioned the general public not to get misled by the degraded politics of divide and rule, regionalism, communalism and corrupt practices for the sake of votes.
Meanwhile, civil society members of Jammu convened a meeting under the chairmanship of Ram Anand to deliberate on the issue of 35A, sub- judice in Supreme Court.  Members said that Article 35-A incorporated in the constitution of India in 1954 by a Presidential order has  no Constitutional locus standi and sanctity as it reflects gender bias, discriminatory and against the mandate of ” Right to Equality ”
“Thousand of Kashmiri individuals have purchased palatial houses and flats in metropolitan cities of India but irony is than an Indian from other States cannot purchase an inch of land in Jammu and Kashmir,” the meet said and termed the Article 35A as the violation of fundamental rights, particularly of women of J & K State who marry to non state subject.
“Article 35-A also promotes separatism and alienation of people and in Kashmir province certain elements are bent upon exploiting it for their personal benefits by fear psychosis. But one thing they must understand that 14 crore Muslims living in other States are flourishing and enjoying all kind of facilities as per law of land,” explained the meet  which was attended by Kuldip Sharma, Dr Jagdish Singh, Suraj Mengi, Hunar Gupta, Dr  CM Seth, Jagan Nath, K L Sharma, V K Sethi, Raman Suri, Suraj Parkash Sharma, Chanchal Popli, Ravinder Rekhi, Sohan Lal Arora and Sandeep Singh.
