GCPWF demands abolition of reservation

JAMMU, Aug 25: A meeting of General Category People’s Welfare Forum, Jammu (GCPWF-J) was held under the chairmanship of its president Prof Yash Paul Sharma, in which threadbare discussion was held, over the marginalization of Sawarn Castes, in social, economic and political sphere by Indian political class and the negative effects of caste based reservation.
In the meeting, a resolution was passed unanimously, demanding setting up a National Commission for General Category to remove false, ill founded prejudice trend based on misconception about their prosperity in today’s India and suggest measures to be adopted by the Government for equality, justice and liberty to all without caste considerations.
Addressing the meeting, Prof Sharma said that caste-based reservation is against the constitutional right of equality & justice and has become a vote catching device for all political parties.
The Forum demanded total abolition of reservation to ensure casteless and classless society as desired by Dr B.R Ambedkar.
