SRINAGAR, Aug 12: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti today accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of trying to divide people of the State on religious lines.
While addressing a press conference at Srinagar this evening, Mehbooba condemned Omar Abdullah’s statement regarding those killed in Kishtwar violence.
“The unfortunate part is that the Chief Minister is trying to project the victims of Kishtwar violence on religious lines. It is unfortunate and condemnable. He can’t divide people on religious lines”, the PDP president said.
Questioning the intentions of CM statement wherein he had said that only one Hindu and two Muslims died in clashes, Mehbooba said: “What does it mean? It doesn’t matter whether slain is a Muslim or Hindu. Every human life is precious.”
The PDP leader termed the Kishtwar communal clashes a conspiracy hatched by Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and National Conference (NC). She said that people of state have to stand united to defeat the nefarious designs of these parties.
The PDP president said that she is optimistic that people of state will not fell prey to the conspiracies and observe historical brotherhood and communal harmony.
Mehbooba said that she feels ashamed on seeing the BJP’s role during current communal violence in Jammu region, adding, former Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee had taken significant initiatives by taking hand of friendship towards to Pakistan and other bold initiatives.
Mehbooba accused the State Government of being selective in providing compensation to the victims of violence. “The compensation being given to victims has been done selectively,” she alleged.
Mehbooba said that in Paddar, Kishtwar several families were forced to migrate to safer places.
