JAMMU, Dec 4: Police arrested a man with cash before the start of voting in Phase-3 of the District Development Council (DDC) elections.
As per police sources, on specific inputs about the distribution of cash in the rural area of village Malikaya Mehra in Domana area, a team from Domana Police Station led by SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul and assisted by SHO Inspector Chanchal Singh intercepted a Bolero bearing registration number JK02BT-8770.
During checking, police team recovered Rs 58695 cash and arrested one person, who was identified as Gaurav Sharma alias Goldie, 30, son of Kewal Krishan from village Patniyal.
The cash was meant for distribution amongst the voters to influence their voting rights and affect the free and fair voting process, which is the most essential ingredient for free and fair elections.
The legalities associated with crime and booking the accused under relevant sections of law took place under the supervision of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
